The Turks and Caicos are actually a string of 40 islands and cays (pronounced keys – small islands), only eight of which are inhabited. Providenciales – known as Provo. Provo’s most famous and popular feature is its Grace Bay Beach – a sweeping 12-mile stretch of dazzling white sand on the north side of the island that rims the truly unbelievable aqua marine waters of Grace Bay. The third largest coral reef system in the world lies just offshore, protecting the national park beach area inside it, and providing a bountiful environment for divers and fishermen.
